James Arthur Ray – arrested on three counts of Manslaughter

James Arthur Ray – the charismatic new age neo-Freudianism guru who was the darling of celebrities such as Oprah was charged officially February 3rd for the deaths of three patrons of his sweatlodge.

An author best known for his recent appearances in the film “The Secret”, in which he makes claims that we can get whatever we can imagine and that all our pain and suffering is caused by negative thinking, ran private courses in self improvement and spirituality on his remote Arizona camp.  The three deaths occurred when overcome by heat and lack of air during a sweatlodge – a formerly native American ceremony where people are put in a small enclosure with fire and hot rocks.  Two died while in the sweatlodge while the third died in hospital later.

The cockiness of Ray after this even is mind blowing.  At a time when he should have been apologizing and trying to help the people involved, Ray was marketing himself at free seminars, trying to drum up business.

What’s dumb is people who market spirituality for a buck. Period. A real master gives his wisdom freely for any who will hear. Whether he wrote the book or not, he is still a charlatan.
